"Beware of monotony; it's the mother of all the deadly sins."
~Edith Wharton
How
many times have I heard, “It’s all about you,
Kathy, isn’t it?” And for one brief, shining moment (right now) I
can say yes, yes it is.
I’m a writer who lives in San Francisco with a saucy cat named Frances.
I love this city. It’s chock full of contrasts. For example, just the other
day I was strolling in my new neighborhood—the Dolores Park area, although
I’m not at liberty to tell you the exact location of my secret underground
lair—when I heard the quiet strains of a homegrown rock band waft slowly
down from the sky like a heavy metal feather. Why, lookee there! I said to my
companion. It’s a band, all set up on their rooftop deck! And you know
what? They were really good. And that seemed to me to be a great SF experience.
Then, the next day, I was strolling along again, when an angry homeless gentleman
called me a stupid whore. See? A study in contrasts.
If you made it this far and just want to talk about work:
Enough about me. Tell me about you.
What has your company or agency been up to lately? Let’s talk initiatives,
launches, big campaigns. Something that needs huzzah! creative that cleaves
closely to
spot-on strategy. Something that requires a no-divas, can-do attitude. Something
innovative, with that certain je ne sais quoi that only Mancall can provide.
Beware all imitators!
